The Prompt Rulebook

Simple prompt rules for better AI answers

The Prompt Rulebook is a PDF of short instructions you paste into your prompt. Each one fixes one common problem, like shaky reasoning, messy formatting or details you never asked for.

  • Organized by problem

Each section covers one kind of problem: accuracy, formatting, tone, completeness, analysis or code. Find the section, pick the rule.

  • Rules that stack

Mix rules from different sections in one prompt, or use one of the 11 power combinations that already join them for jobs like debugging or data analysis.

  • Works in any AI chat

The rules are plain instructions, not tricks for one tool, so they work in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other chat tools.

AI Product Development Toolkit

Building something bigger?

The free AI Product Development Toolkit is a set of guided prompt templates for building software with AI. They ask you questions and check in with you, so you decide what gets built.

  1. Plan user research

A questionnaire draft, then evidence-linked PRD input from the responses you collect.

  2. Define the product

The PRD prompt interviews you about your idea, then drafts a product requirements document: goals, users, requirements and constraints.

  3. Map the experience

User journeys and interface requirements, built from your PRD.

  4. Choose the first release

An MVP concept: the core problem, the hypothesis to test and a limited feature scope.

  5. Plan the build

A detailed MVP development plan, or a smaller ultra-lean build specification.

  6. Plan verification

A test plan with scope, test types and acceptance criteria.

Start at the step you need. Each template is a plain Markdown file: copy it into your AI chat and answer its questions.

Ready to build? The AI App Starter lets your AI coding agent build a Next.js, Supabase and Vercel app with you, step by step, from these same documents.

Use Claude Code? The repository also has agent configurations: working rules for Claude Opus 5.5.

AI App Starter

Build the app, one piece at a time

Set up the starter in an empty folder, and your coding agent leads you from idea to launch. It holds no app code, only instructions and rules: what to do at each stage of building a Next.js, Supabase and Vercel app, what to ask you and when, and what it may never do.

It plans with you first
Have a PRD or notes? It asks only about the gaps. If not, it interviews you with the toolkit's planning prompts, and writes nothing until you agree.
It works only on your computer
A local database and stand-ins for payment and email. It never uses the keys to your hosting or payment accounts, not even test keys.
You decide when it goes live
Pushing and deploying are blocked for the agent. Staging updates when you merge on GitHub; production changes only when you start it.

Setup is done: your project folder now has the starter, the planning guides and a first saved snapshot. Nothing is online yet, and nothing has been pushed anywhere.

How we'll work together:

  1. Talk through your idea. Who it's for, what it does and what the first version includes. I write that up for you to approve.
  2. Make a few practical choices, like how people sign in or pay.
  3. Build the app one piece at a time, and you check each piece as it's done.
  4. Launch it.

At each step I'll tell you what I need from you.

First step: do you already have anything written about your idea? A product description (developers call it a PRD), a list of what the first version should include, sketches of screens, or rough notes all count. If you do, paste them in or tell me where they are. If not, just say “no”, and I'll interview you about the idea. That usually takes 20–40 minutes, and we can pause any time.

Common questions

Before you start

What is PromptQuick?

PromptQuick makes tools for working with AI. The Prompt Rulebook is a PDF of short, copy-paste rules you add to your prompts; each one fixes a common problem, like vague answers, the wrong tone or messy formatting. The free AI Product Development Toolkit on GitHub has prompts for planning a product, and the AI App Starter, which lets your coding agent build the app with you.

What's in the free sample chapter?

A PDF with the first two sections of the book: 16 rules for accurate, well-reasoned answers and for clear formatting. Use them right away and see if the Rulebook fits the way you work.

What AI tools do these prompt rules work with?

The rules work with the popular AI chat tools, including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. They teach clear communication, not tricks for one tool.

Do I need technical knowledge to use these prompts?

No. The rules are written in plain language. You copy a rule, paste it into your prompt and send it. If you can type a question into ChatGPT, you can use the Rulebook.

What's the difference between the sample and the full rulebook?

The free sample has the first 2 of the book's 7 sections: 16 rules for accurate answers and clear formatting. The full Rulebook has all 7: 43 copy-paste rules, plus 11 power combinations, ready-made prompts that join several rules for one kind of job. It costs $14.99 once, with lifetime access.
